KPMG ESG certification is suitable for anyone who wants to gain a practical overview of ESG – environmental, social, and governance factors. The program is designed for managers, specialists, entrepreneurs, or anyone who needs to understand ESG requirements and know how to apply them in practice.

ESG has become an integral part of business. Companies face growing demands for transparency, reporting, emissions reduction, responsible treatment of people, and cybersecurity. In the EU, these issues are supported by legislation that is changing the way activities are planned and reported.

KPMG ESG certification offers a practical framework that connects all areas of ESG. From climate risks and the circular economy to data management, customer experience, and people-related issues across the value chain. The program is led by experienced internal and external experts and includes practical tasks from real-world practice.

Upon completion, you will receive a certificate, useful materials, and, most importantly, knowledge that you can immediately apply in your work.

Day 1: Sustainability Reporting: Theory and Application to a Case Study

Module 1 – Sustainability Reporting (ESG)

The introductory training in the series is primarily intended for those who already work with sustainability data or are preparing to do so. It will provide an overview of the most important regulations – from the Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) to the EU Taxonomy and the voluntary VSME standard. We will focus on a practical explanation of the requirements, key concepts, and interrelationships between the various frameworks so that participants gain a solid foundation for accurate, consistent, and meaningful reporting.

May 25, 2026 (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)

Module 2 – ESG Case Study

The second module builds on the content of Module 1 and moves participants from theory to the practical application of sustainability reporting requirements. As part of the case study, they will work with selected elements of the European ESRS standards and EU Taxonomy to deepen their understanding of their logic, structure, and practical implications for reporting. The aim is to support participants’ ability to correctly interpret and apply these frameworks in real-life situations.

May 25, 2026 (1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Day 2: Reporting on environmental topics: Greenhouse gas emissions, water, natural resources, and biodiversity

Module 3 – How to report greenhouse gas emissions?

The course offers a comprehensive overview of reporting standards and the GHG Protocol framework, which is the most widely used methodology for calculating greenhouse gas emissions in scopes 1, 2, and 3. We focus on determining reporting boundaries – at the level of operations, organizations, and larger territorial units (e.g., cities or municipalities). We will also look at how to set realistic climate targets and how to monitor and update them. Participants will gain a practical insight into the application of these principles in real-life conditions, supplemented with practical examples. The training was developed in collaboration with Alena Popovičová, a long-standing expert in greenhouse gas emissions calculation.

May 26, 2026 (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)

Module 4 – Water protection , water and other natural resources. Biodiversity protection

The course offers both a legislative and practical perspective on the protection of natural resources, biodiversity, and ecosystems. It focuses on the requirements of ESRS E3 (Water and Water Resources) and ESRS E4 (Biodiversity and Ecosystems) standards and their application in the context of corporate reporting. We will also look at water footprint analysis and its importance for ESG reporting, including links to relevant ESRS data points. Participants will gain an overview of how to identify significant impacts and risks, work with relevant data, and what solutions can support the restoration or strengthening of ecosystems. The program will also include examples of green and blue infrastructure presented by long-standing experts in the field.

May 26, 2026 (1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Day 3: Responsible use of resources: EUDR and the circular economy

Module 5 – How to prepare for and comply with the Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

This module provides a comprehensive overview of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which will enter into force on December 30, 2025, although this date may be postponed depending on further developments. It focuses on commodities associated with deforestation risk – cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soy, beef, timber, and rubber – and explains how the EUDR will affect their production, trade, and flow in supply chains. We cover the main obligations for businesses, such as due diligence requirements, geographical traceability, and verifiability of origin, as well as the practical steps that companies will need to take when importing or exporting the products concerned.
As the regulation will affect a wide range of sectors – from food and retail to construction and the automotive industry – the course will help participants understand its real-world impacts and prepare for the associated process and data requirements.

June 1, 2026 (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)

Module 6 – Circular Economy

This module offers a practical look at the principles of the circular economy and their application in a corporate environment. Participants will learn about key indicators for measuring circularity, material flow assessment, and ways to integrate circular models into corporate strategy. We will also show examples of implementations that bring both environmental and economic benefits.
We will also focus on the requirements of the ESRS E5 standard (Resource Use and Circular Economy) and what data organizations need for reporting. The training was developed in collaboration with long-standing experts from the Circular Economy Institute, who will supplement the presentation with specific examples from practice.

June 1, 2026 (1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Day 4: Climate Risks and Opportunities. Transformation Plan, ESG Strategy, and Working with Data

Module 7 – ESG Climate Risks and Opportunities

This module provides a comprehensive overview of climate risks and opportunities in the ESG context. Participants will learn about the principles of energy audits, energy efficiency, and energy management systems. We will also cover the requirements of ESRS E1 (Climate Change) and ESRS E2 (Pollution) standards.
Together, we will explore how organizations identify and assess climate risks, what approaches are used for modeling them, and which tools support planning for decarbonization measures. We will also look at how these processes influence corporate decision-making and reporting obligations.
The course is prepared in collaboration with long-time climate risk expert Jakub Hrbáň, who will enrich the content with practical examples and real-world experience.

June 2, 2026 (8:30 AM – 12:00 PM)

Module 8 – ESG Data Management, Transformation Plan, and Strategy

This module introduces how to systematically set up an ESG strategy for a sustainable business model and integrate it with the organization’s operational processes. Participants will gain an overview of how to select and monitor key indicators that support evaluating progress in sustainability. We will also explain how to approach creating a transformation plan—from identifying priorities and risks to defining specific steps, milestones, and required resources.
The module also includes an overview of automation options for ESG data collection and trends in software solutions that can help organizations implement effective data management and support the digital transformation of the entire ESG process. Participants will thus gain a practical framework for connecting data, processes, and strategic goals into a functional system.

June 2, 2026 (1:00 PM – 4:30 PM)

Day 5: Safe and Sustainable Workplace and Business, CX and Cybersecurity – ESG Topics Related to Workforce and Customers

Module 9 – Safe and sustainable workplace – ESG workforce issues

This module focuses on the “S” issues in ESG reporting, specifically areas related to people working in the organization and its value chain. Using a practical example, we will demonstrate how to identify risks, impacts, opportunities, and material issues within an organization. We will take a closer look at issues related to human rights, equality, diversity, inclusion, and workplace safety, as well as the related requirements of ESRS standards S1 (Own Workforce) and S2 (Workers in the Value Chain).
Using examples, we will show how individual requirements translate into reporting obligations and what exactly organizations must cover under S1 and S2.

June 8, 2026 (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)

Module 10 – Sustainable business, customer experience, and cybersecurity in the context of ESG

The module focuses on key topics of sustainable business, in particular community relations, responsible customer relations, ethical behavior, and transparency. We will also look at cybersecurity in the context of ESG reporting, particularly how organizations work with data protection and incident prevention.
Participants will gain an overview of the requirements of ESRS standards S3 (Affected Communities), S4 (Consumers and End Users) and G1 (Business Conduct) standards that address these areas, including their structure, logic, and what they expect from organizations in their reporting.
