KPMG ESG Certification training to learn the basic framework on how to proceed with GHG reporting (Scope 1, Scope 2, Scope 3). After the training, we offer you to take an online test to earn the KPMG ESG Certificate - GHG Reporting.

The training will cover GHG emissions reporting (Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3) at the level of any organisation, including practical examples. We will also explain why it is important to monitor pollutant emissions other than GHGs in ESG.

SCOPE OF TRAINING

Introduction, climate change

Greenhouse effect, GWP, climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation measures, carbon neutrality and net zero, offsets and offsets, etc.

Overview of reporting standards, GHG Protocol

How EFRAG, ISSB, SEC standards view the reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants.

Determining boundaries

Boundaries at the plant level, at the organization level (parent corporate organizations, multiple pooled plants), agglomeration level (city, municipality).

Calculation

Methodology and model cases.

Emission monitoring and target setting

Achievability and realism of targets, monitoring of results, modification of targets.

Offsets, credits and offsets

Definitions, differences and explanation

Assurance and verification

Certified/accredited calculations versus third party verification of calculations. Assurance in the reporting process.

You will know the answers to the following questions after completing the training:

  • How to define boundaries for emissions reporting.
  • What is the difference between Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
  • What indicators need to be considered in the calculation methodology.
  • Are offsets, credits and offsets necessary.
  • What is the importance of assurance and verification of emissions reporting.
